Fire Ban Reinstated

Aug 02, 2016

Hi all,  the MNR Fire Weather forecast now has an FWI of 33 for us today and tomorrow to be 30.   Anything over 23 is extreme hazard.   The drought codes are in the 400’s which are well into extreme.  This combined with the lack of significant precipitation in the forecast and the increasing number of wild fire calls over the past week has caused Chief Korhonen and I to determine the need to implement a fire ban

A FIRE BAN will be implemented as of 08:00 Wednesday August 3, 2016

The FIRE BAN will cover all of Addington Highlands and North Frontenac.

The Fire Ban information line 613-336-1851 will be updated this evening and signs are going to be posted this afternoon and evening.

Those cottage association contacts that have the departments fire ban signs please post them, thanks

As a reminder a Fire Ban includes but is not limited to burn barrels, any open air burning,  camp fires, other than gas cooking appliances such as BBQs or Colman camp stoves or charcoal installations within 100m of a dwelling.  It also includes fireworks, fire crackers,  Chinese lanterns, and chimineas.

If you have any questions please contact myself or Chief Korhonen

When conditions change I will email out updates.

Thanks,

Casey
