Winter Tourism Survey for Bon Echo Provincial Park

Jan 24, 2015

Please find the following message which was received from Rob Plumley from the Lennox & Addington County Office. The County and Addington Highlands Township AHEAD committee are working on increasing the number of winter activities available in Bon Echo - particularly groomed XCountry ski trails.

Please take the confidential survey which should only take a minute or two of your time to complete.

Each year, nearly 200,000 people travel from across Ontario and beyond to enjoy the natural attraction of Bon Echo Provincial Park. Found just north of the village of Cloyne, Bon Echo generates significant economic activity for the business community and tourism stakeholders found in Addington Highlands and beyond.

When the park completes their season in October, a noticeable decrease in tourism visits occur within the township and surrounding region. A group consisting of The Township of Addington Highlands, Lennox & Addington County, the Land O’ Lakes Tourist Association, with assistance from the office of MPP Randy Hillier, have teamed up to collect information with the hope of building a strong business case that may entice Ontario Parks decision-makers to consider opening Bon Echo Provincial Park in some capacity during the winter months.

We have created a brief survey about winter tourism activities that could potentially take place at the park. The data collected will be a valuable tool that we hope will assist in making Bon Echo Provincial Park a four-season destination.
